The country house Pilón del Fraile is located in a family orchard on the slopes of the village of Oropesa, just over 1.5 km from its old quarter.
The areas previously used for agriculture and livestock have been renovated and converted into spectacular accommodation facilities, where comfort, intimacy and peace are breathed in each of its rooms.
The house and its surroundings are perfect for small groups interested in nature activities such as hiking, bike touring, bird watching, family or friends’ reunions, as well as for organising small events.
BIKE TOURING ROUTES AND IMPORTANT AREAS WITHIN THE DESTINATION
We are in the Campana de Oropesa, between the Sierra de Gredos and the river Tajo, 150 kms from Madrid and 106 kms from Toledo.
A privileged location to plan beautiful routes for cycling lovers from the very door of our house. Routes that run through the Campana de Oropesa region as well as the neighbouring regions of
Campo Arañuelo and La Vera.
The region is full of numerous cattle trails and cords of the old transhumance, accessible very close to our house!
Oropesa-Guadalupe-Oropesa (MTB). The first of two stages that take us from the town of Oropesa in Toledo to Guadalupe in Extremadura and back on the second day along the Jara greenway.
The route begins along beautiful tracks until we reach the village of Villar de Pedroso, where we start to gain altitude. After about ten kilometres we reach Carrascalejo where we really start to climb the Arrebatacapas pass. After a brief stop, we begin a descent which will take us to the second pass of the day, crossing the Palomera mountain range. While taking on this ascent we will suffer some steep slopes around the 70 kilometre point of the track. We will descend and tackle a final climb of 200 metres and the subsequent descent to reach Guadalupe.
Dehesas toledanas (MTB). Landscapes of holm oak pastures, riverside vegetation and crop fields. Connection with the Cañada Real Leonesa Occidental.
