BIKE TOURING ROUTES AND IMPORTANT AREAS WITHIN THE DESTINATION

Road:

1- Lloret de Mar – Calonge – La Bisbal – Santa Pellaia – Sant Grau – Lloret de Mar.

This is undoubtedly the preferred route in the area, because of the beautiful road leading from Tossa de Mar to Sant Feliu de Guíxols. You will cycle accompanied by the almost-silvery-green of the holm oaks and the turquoise of the coves in the most authentic Costa Brava, always with the Mediterranean Sea as a backdrop. However, there’s more: three mountain passes complete this iconic and tough route.

Distance 132 km | Elevation gain 1,850 m | Max. Altitude 435 m

2- Lloret de Mar – Anglès – Sant Hilari Sacalm – Arbúcies – Lloret de Mar

An incursion into the mountain landscapes of Les Guilleries through the main ascent in the route: the Sant Hilari. The route winds along the Osor stream, in a gentle and progressive ascent surrounded by beech and chestnut forests. Les Guilleries at its best.

It is a road section with important traffic density; to be avoided during in/out work rush hour times, from 8 to 9.30 am and from 5 to 7 pm.

Distance 112 km | Elevation gain 1,340 m | Max. Altitude 800 m

3- Lloret de Mar – Sant Grau – Romanyà de la Selva – Lloret de Mar

Between the sea and the mountains. A counter-clockwise route that starts with a climb with views over the sea from the top of Sant Grau to ride through Romanyà, in the heart of the Gavarres massif, and end the route with the most spectacular road on the Costa Brava. A classic not to be missed!

Distance 106 km | Elevation gain 1,600 m | Max. Altitude 411 m

4- Lloret de Mar – Turó de l’Home – Lloret de Mar

This is a route for climbers. The challenge is the ascent of the great Turó de l’Home via one of its toughest and, at the same time, most beautiful slopes. You will cross shady forests with a magical air, reaching the top of the great massif of Montseny. Not everyone has managed to conquer this giant!

It is a road section with important traffic density; to be avoided during in/out work rush hour times, from 8 to 9.30 am and from 5 to 7 pm.

Distance 140 km | Elevation gain 1,850 m | Max. Altitude 1706 m

5- Lloret de Mar – Santa Coloma – Sant Hilari Sacalm – Arbúcies – Lloret de Mar

The 800 m. of Sant Hilari Sacalm can be climbed via two roads, both of which are fantastic for cycling. This specific route climbs up to the top of Sant Hilari through a quiet, winding road approaching the landscapes of the Montseny Natural Park from Les Guilleries. The greenery of the Mediterranean forests in contrast with the rocky cliffs. Can’t miss it!

It is a road section with important traffic density; to be avoided during in/out work rush hour times, from 8 to 9.30 am and from 5 to 7 pm.

Distance 95 km | Elevation gain 840 m | Max. Altitude 800 m

6- Lloret de Mar – Sant Grau – Llagostera – Tossa – Lloret de Mar

A short trip to stretch your legs along the most spectacular road on the Costa Brava which reaches the most emblematic summit of the area: the Sant Grau. This route is perfect to make the most of your arrival day in Lloret or just before returning home.

Distance 54 km | Elevation gain 650 m | Max. Altitude 411 m

7- Lloret de Mar – Sant Grau – Els Àngels – Girona – Lloret de Mar

This route will take us to the city of Girona, one of the ‘Meccas’ of European cycling, crossing the most iconic mountain passes in the area. Returning via fast roads will allow us to make the most of the high-speed riding technique. A perfect combination, with a bearable mileage that includes both coastal and Mediterranean forest scenery.

It is a road section with important traffic density; to be avoided during in/out work rush hour times, from 8 to 9.30 am and from 5 to 7 pm.

Distance 134 km | Elevation gain 1,850 m | Max. Altitude 450 m

8- Banyoles – Mare De Déu Del Mont – Rocacorba – Banyoles

45′ required transfer.

Banyoles is the starting point for two great climbs that lead to privileged viewpoints, with the added bonus of being able to make the most of its lake both on leaving the town and, specially, on arriving, with a refreshing swim. A perfect combination for cyclists: magnificent flat sections to ride fast and two tough climbs. If we decide that one mountain pass is enough, we have the option of finishing the route passing by Banyoles again.

Distance 100 km | Elevation gain 1,900 m | Max. Altitude 1,070 m

9- Sant Esteve d’en Bas – Oix – Beget – Vallter – Sant Esteve d’en Bas

60′ required transfer.

Undoubtedly one of the toughest routes in the area, with an authentic high mountain element: a special category pass that exceeds two thousand metres in altitude. A route to enjoy true endurance cycling and resistance. But not everything is about toughness: the route passes by fantastic natural landscapes and villages with medieval architecture such as Oix, Beget, Rocabruna and Setcases. From Lloret de Mar we recommend using the one-hour car transfer service to Sant Esteve d’en Bas in order to start the route.

Distance 150 km | Elevation gain 2,616 m | Max. Altitude 2,151 m

10- Sant Esteve d’en Bas – Collfred – Bellmunt – Bracons – Sant Esteve d’en Bas

60′ required transfer.

This is the opportunity to put our climbing level to the test. The challenge is to know how to dose your strength in order to chain the three passes and overcome the short and steep cement ramps, close to 20% in the first two. The route equally combines toughness and scenic beauty as it crosses places of great authenticity offering a mixture of agricultural landscapes and the forests of La Garrotxa and Osona. From Lloret de Mar, we recommend a one-hour car transfer service to Sant Esteve d’en Bas to start the route.

A short route to stretch your legs, including a climb to the summit of Montgròs.
